Who is Loui Jover ?

Je vis actuellement dans le Queensland en Australie où je pratique désormais quotidiennement mon art.Avant je vivais en Europe ms j'ai déménagé tout jeune et depuis j'ai fondé une famille. Je dessine depuis toujours...Avant de vivre de mon art j'étais illustrateur pour l'armée australienne et je travaillais également en tant que graphiste free-lance. Puis j'ai commencé à faire pas mal d'expositions seul ou avec d'autres artistes.

Internet a brisé certaines barrières notamment en matière d'art ce qui a été très bénéfique pour mon travail, pour me faire connaître et ainsi vivre aujourd'hui de ma passion.

I am a full time artist living on the Gold Coast in Queensland Australia, I was born in Europe and moved here when I was a baby. I live  with my wife and young daughter. I have made drawings all my life, before I became a full time artist I worked for as an illustrator in the Australian military and as a free lance graphic artist as well. I have held a number of solo exhibitions and have been involved in group shows also.The internet  has opened up the world for the arts has been beneficial for me and my style of work this in turn has created an income which now allows me to make drawings I want for my lively hood. 

Comment définiriez vous votre travail artistique ? Tell us more about your art work ?

J'ai toujours aimé dessiner à l'encre noire sur les pages de vieux livres, je les assemble et j'obtiens ainsi un livre abîmé, qui a vécu. Je peins également sur toile avec différentes techniques et j'aime également faire des collages et même des dessins animés. J'essaie à chaque fois de proposer quelque chose de créatif, c'est l'essence même de mon travail. La plupart du temps je travaille la nuit quand tout est calme, paisible, je me sens plus à l'aise seul face à mes pensées que seul face à du monde.

J'ai toujours vendu mes oeuvres mais Internet me donne l'opportunité aujourd'hui de toucher un public plus large et pas seulement les clients de galerie.

I mostly enjoy drawing in black ink on vintage book pages that I have stuck together and that have come from books already damaged, I do however also paint on canvas with mixed media and also enjoy making some collage works and even cartoons. I try and do some drawing or creative work everyday, it is something I am compelled to do.I mostly work at night as this is when things are most quite and peaceful, I also prefer to work alone I do not like an audience. I have sold my work for many years however this has never been with the scope that on line art activity can offer, the computer opens up a world wide audience of interested participants that a bricks and mortar exhibition can never fully encompass. 

Comment définiriez vous votre style ? D'où viennent vos inspirations ? Loui Jover's style & inspiration

Je dirais que mon style est figuratif et audacieux quand je dessine ou que je peins sur du grand format à l'encre noire et un peu plus raffiné quand je travaille sur des petits formats qui mettent en avant des détails et les oiseaux.Mon inspiration vient de ce que je vois ou ressens chaque jour.J'aime regarder et transposer sur mes dessins mon idée de la beauté et de la romance empreint de surréalisme et parfois d'inspiration pop art. Depuis ma plus tendre enfance j'ai toujours été attiré par les dessins, croquis des artistes représentés dans les livres. J'ai toujours pensé que les croquis était aussi beaux que les oeuvres finies, il n'y a qu'à voir le travail de Leonard de Vinci ou Rembrandt pour s'en rendre compte. Il y a quelques temps j'avais l'habitude d'utiliser de la peinture à l'huile, après quelques années, et même si mes oeuvres se vendaient bien, j'ai décidé d'abandonner cette technique ainsi que la couleur pour me concentrer et travailler uniquement avec l'encre et le pinceau. C'est à ce moment là que j'ai voyagé en Europe et que j'ai pu admirer le travail d'artistes qui me rappelait mes souvenirs d'enfant quand j'admirais les croquis et dessins figurant dans mes livres...  

My style is figurative and bold when dealing with the larger ink drawings or paintings and a little more refined with the smaller hair and bird studies. I am inspired in sorts by everything offered in this information filled world.I like to look at and draw ideals of beauty and romance and even a little surrealism and pop art.I like 'line' that is why I am primarily attracted to the act of drawing when expressing my self.  I remember even as a boy looking at art reference books I was always most interested in the artists drawings shown in the books, their studies and sketches. I think many of the masters had drawings as fine as their other finished art works, just look at Leonardo's work or Rembrandts for confirmation of this fact.  A while back when I resided in Sydney I used to make oil paintings, after a number of years and even though my work was selling well, I became dissatisfied and decided to give up all colour and paint for a time and just concentrate on drawing in ink and pencil, it was at this time that I travelled to Europe and looked at all the masters works that I had stared at in all those books so many years ago. 

Si vous étiez un artiste? Your favorite artist

Aie très difficile question, je n'ai pas d'artiste favoris,il y en a tellement...Je pense à Ai Weiwei. La personne que j'aime le plus est ma fille Jazz./ These are very difficult questions!I really do not have a favourite artist as such, there are so many fine artists to only choose one would be an injustice. I think Ai Weiwei is a cool character. The person I like most of all is my ten year old daughter Jazz.

Une couleur ? A color ?

Je n'ai pas réellement de couleur favorite, un jour j'aime le bleu, le lendemain le marron.Le blanc et le noir sont mes préférés ms je ne crois pas que se soit des couleurs.../ My favourite color is never the same. one day I like blue the next brown. black and white are my favourites but I do not think they are classed as clors are they?

Art....dessin animé...pensée / lol......a quote that represents me!?......."art.....cartoon....thought....." I am very narrow minded. 

L'indispensable sur une île déserte ? The one thing you'll always bring to a deserted island ? 

Un bateau ainsi je pourrais décider quand j'aurai envie de partir./ Is a boat so I can leave when I choose to.

Right now the best place to find my works that are available is at saatchiart or to follow me on FB.... I am able to be contacted at anytime at email  . At this moment I do not have any representation in France however I do want to very much return one day soon and have a small show in Paris or in any of the beautiful cities this wonderful country has to offer.

Mon avenir je le vois dans la simplicité et le dessin. J'espère que je continuerai à voyager et que je continuerai à faire des expositions en Europe et en Amérique ainsi je resterai en contact avec les merveilleuses personnes qui m'ont encouragé et qui continuent  à soutenir mon travail.

My future seeks simplicity and the discipline of drawing. I hope to travel and hold some small shows in Europe and the Americas so I can connect with some of the wonderful people who have encouraged and supported my work.
